I have never attempted to shred more than four or five sheets at a time. I began to notice that the machine was jamming when I tried to shred even single sheets. Upon inspection, I found that several of the plastic dividers meant to separate the metal teeth had sheared off and paper was jamming those teeth. As I said, I have never over-loaded the machine.
