It can be difficult to gather much excitement for a netbook case, as the market is filled with a bunch of mediocre cases that lack features and quality. However, the Brenthaven switch Satchel really takes the netbook case to another level. First, the case is extremely durable. Most of the case is made of nylon or something similar, except for the reversible front flap (which has both a smooth, leather-like side and a cloth-like side). The flap is not only reversible, but you can also buy other flaps for the case. I wouldn't consider the flap feature as a deal breaker, but it is a nice touch.
Second, the Brenthaven Switch Satchel has many more features than other netbook cases. Beyond the reversible flap, you get plenty of pockets. There is a rear velcro pocket, front zipper pocket, and a semi-open pocket that contains slots for pens/pencils and another item (such as a cell phone). It also includes a clip for keys or other objects. The middle pocket holds the netbook and closes with both a zipper and the flap. As for carrying the case, there is both a rear handle and shoulder strap (which cannot be removed). I wish the shoulder strap was removable, as it's not something that all people will use.
This case fits my Samsung NC-10 very well. It's almost a perfect size, although it can still fit a little bit larger netbook. I have also tried it with a Dell Mini 9 and it fit well, too. While the Brenthaven Switch Satchel has some great features, there are a few negatives that stopped me from giving it five stars. For one, while this is a durable case, I'm not a fan of the mostly all nylon fabric. They could have chosen some better, more upscale fabric. Also, while it does have a good bit of padding to protect your netbook, it was very firm padding. So your gear will be protected from many blunt hits and dings, but some additional, thicker padding would protect a netbook from harder hits. The last thing is a big deal for me and that's the interior of the netbook enclosure. My netbook, like many others, has rubber pads/feet on the bottom of it and they stick to the inside of the Switch Satchel when placing it in the case and taking it out. I'm not talking about a little sticking; it can actually be pretty difficult to get it back out. I suspect the netbook's pads will eventually come off with extended use of the case.
Overall, this is a good case and certainly beats the competition in many areas. Depending on your needs, the Brenthaven Switch Satchel could be right for you. For me though, I would like to see a couple of improvements. Just a few changes and this would no doubt be a five star item.
