I previously used a Microsoft remote Model 1039 gray in color ( until it stopped working ) with my media center . The initial impression of this remote are very good . I didn't end up needing the receiver that came with this remote , It works just fine with my original Microsoft receiver ( with the longer cord ) . My only criticism if you could call it that ,I would have liked the "guide" button moved. As I mentioned I had the Microsoft remote and was very used to the button placement , it has the "guide " button just below the channel change button .
Pros : Price - I believe for under $30.00 this is a great deal
Ergonomic design - Fits well in my hand , not big or bulky
Many short cut buttons- picture zoom , radio, music, pictures and videos buttons that weren't on the Microsoft remote.
Con: Guide button placement - As I mentioned I would have preferred the button placed closer to the channel up/down button and slightly larger .
Not really a con , but as much as I like the extra short cut buttons it comes with a price , with a limited amount of room the buttons are a little smaller than what I would prefer.
Over all I like this remote so much , I will buy two (2) more to replace my other Media center remotes .Get more detail about Noah Company MediaGate GP-IR02BK Windows Vista Home Premium and Windows Vista Ultimate MCE Remote Control, 2 Channel IR (Black).
